on White Rice

Cooking Directions:

  • Marinate the Beef:

    • In a bowl, combine the thinly sliced flank steak with baking soda, olive oil, garlic salt, and soy sauce. Mix well and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. This helps tenderize the beef.

  • Prepare the stir-fry sauce:

    • In a separate bowl, whisk together grated ginger, grated garlic, hot water, low sodium soy sauce, light brown sugar, corn starch, black pepper, and sesame oil. Set aside.

  • Stir Fry the Beef:

    • Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.

    • Add the marinated flank steak and stir fry until browned and cooked through. This should take about 2-3 minutes. Once done, transfer the beef to a plate.

  • Cook the Broccoli:

    • In the same pan, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil.

    • Add broccoli florets and stir fry for 3-4 minutes or until tender-crisp.

  • Combine and Sauce:

    • Return the cooked beef to the pan with the broccoli.

    • Pour the prepared stir-fry sauce over the beef and broccoli. Stir well to coat everything evenly.

    • Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes or until the sauce thickens.

  • Serve:

    • Sprinkle sesame seeds over the beef and broccoli as a garnish, if desired.

    • Serve the delicious Beef and Broccoli over steamed rice or noodles.

Rice Directions:

  • Measure the Rice:

    • Using a measuring cup, measure 2 cups of white rice.

  • Rinse the Rice:

    • Place the measured rice in a fine-mesh strainer and rinse it under cold running water. Continue rinsing until the water runs clear. This helps remove excess starch and prevents the rice from being too sticky.

    • Add Rice to the Rice Cooker:

    • Transfer the rinsed rice to the rice cooker.

  • Add Water:

    • Add 4 cups of water to the rice in the cooker. The ratio of water to rice is typically 2:1, but it can vary slightly depending on the type of rice and your personal preference.

    • Optional: Add Salt or Oil (if desired):

    • If you like, you can add a pinch of salt or a small amount of oil (like a teaspoon of olive oil) to enhance the flavor and prevent sticking. Stir lightly.

  • Start the Rice Cooker:

    • Close the rice cooker lid and set it to the "White Rice" or "Regular" setting. If your rice cooker has a timer, you can set it to start cooking at a specific time.

  • Wait for Completion:

    • Allow the rice cooker to complete its cycle. The cooker will automatically switch to the "Warm" setting when the rice is done.

  • Let it Rest:

    • Once the rice cooker switches to "Warm," let the rice rest for an additional 10 minutes. This helps ensure that the rice is fully cooked and allows any remaining moisture to be absorbed.

  • Fluff the Rice:

    • After the resting period, use a fork to fluff the rice gently. This separates the grains and gives the rice a light and fluffy texture.

  • Serve:

    • Serve the perfectly cooked white rice as a side dish or as a base for your favorite main courses.
